Demetrius Stevenson: Boy, 8, shot dead in Markham home
An 8-year-old boy, Demetrius Stevenson, was shot and killed Monday evening in Markham.
At around 5 p.m., police responded to the area of 157th and Homan in Markham. Demetrius was shot and killed in front of a home in the 15700 blocks of Homan, Markham, Illinois.
Police said the 8-year-old was shot in the head after a vehicle pulled up and shots were fired at his 18-year-old brother.
“I’ve been here 33 years and never seen nothing like this,” neighbor Ed Winston said.
Stevenson loves school, sports and was in the third grade at Longwood Elementary. The family said.
One suspect has been arrested and is in custody.
