The Ghana Police Service has arrested nine (9) people across the country for publishing false news about the alleged disappearance of their genitals, causing fear and panic among the public and attacks on innocent citizens.

In a brief statement, the police revealed that all of the claims were false.

Six people have been arrested in Kasoa, the Central Region, two in Ashaiman, the Greater Accra Region, and one in Nkawkaw, the Eastern Region, for making false claims about missing genitals.

Five (5) people have been arraigned in court, with three (3) remanded to police custody and two (2) granted bail. The rest are on police inquiry bail and will be arraigned in court soon, according to the police.

The Ghana Police Service also expressed concern about the growing trend of people making false claims about the disappearance of their genitals and blaming innocent bystanders, which can lead to mob violence.

The statement went on to say, “We wish to caution the public against such criminal conduct that is likely to harm innocent people as well as disturb the public peace.”
